Have you received the proper concussion treatment? Just because your signs of a concussion are gone, that doesn’t always mean you’re in the clear. Our trained physiotherapists will help you safely recover from a concussion and give you peace of mind. Rehabilitation for a typical concussion can be expected to take up to 4 weeks, however, a baseline test can enable you to return to sport and everyday life safely and earlier than expected.
Book NowBook NowThere are rehabilitation guidelines that individuals are strongly recommended to follow before returning to normal activity. However, those who are more likely to experience a concussion (high-achieving athletes, sporting players, lovers of horse-riding, skateboarding, BMX riding etc.) are strongly recommended to complete their own baseline test. This provides information more specific to the individual, and the capacity for an earlier return to activities.
Even if your signs of concussion are gone, it doesn’t mean you’re ready to return to normal activities. Baseline testing is the only way to accurately determine if you’re truly safe to return to sport and life. A baseline test involves a number of specific tasks where our trained practitioners record results and store them on file for future reference should you experience a concussion. In the event of a concussion, you’re asked to complete the same tasks and, if clear, you’re ready for a safe return to sport and life no matter how much time has passed.
If you suspect you have a concussion, you should immediately stop performing any activity and seek medical attention as soon as possible. Some symptoms of concussion may not present until a few hours after the initial incident, and the risks can still remain after all symptoms have passed. Common symptoms to look out for include headache, dizziness, confusion, memory problems, and sensitivity to light or noise.
